Getting older getting fitter!

Arba Fitness is a place where you will be part of a community that cares

I'm so pleased to be sitting here thinking about what to discuss in my first blog post. So what better than to share my journey.

The fitness and well-being sector can be an intimidating place. I know because I avoided it for nearly thirty years.

And when many of my peers were starting to think about retirement planning I pivoted (in an extreme way) and decided to take ownership of my health, my well-being and therefore my future.

It all started with a few midnight dog walks, cutting out the potato chips, and quickly moved into the gym (albeit when no one else was present).

In those early days I felt ashamed, ashamed and not worthy of donning training gear, sweating with the muscle boys, and thinking of myself as 'an athlete'. And I bet I'm not alone in thinking the gym is a place only for 'fit folks'.

But how do you make the pivot and take ownership for your own well-being when the 'barriers to entry' seem so high.

Take ownership in a safe environment

To badly quote a Chinese proverb, the first steps are the hardest. And this is where I can help. And if those early experiences leave you feeling de-motivated then the journey will be short-lived.

My personal journey is recent, and it means I 'get it' when you say you can't, I 'get it' when you say you don't know how to, I 'get it' when you feel that rush because you did. Those feelings are fresh in my memory and count for a lot when I'm standing next to you counting out the reps.

It's never too late to take ownership

It's been a hell of a journey over the last six years. It's not been plain sailing and I've hit many bumps in the road. But I've stuck with it, I've taken myself into uncomfortable places, physically and emotionally, and I've loved every minute of it. And you can enjoy the same experiences.

I look forward to working with you on your own transformation so check out the programmes and plans on offer elsewhere on this site.
